What is a party band?
A party band consists of talented musicians performing your favourite cover songs from the music charts over the last 6 decades or so. A typical 4-piece band would consist of a lead singer, guitarist, drummer, and bass guitarist. A party band can increase in size by adding keyboards and brass instruments and backing singers.

Party bands information
Bands certificate
All party bands will have Public Liability Insurance (PLI) certificates and a portable appliance tested (PAT) certification which will be renewed every year. This is usually requested by the venue holding the event.
Set up and performance times
The band is usually set up in around 60-90 minutes depending on how far it is from the car parking to the performance area.
The standard set times for a party band will either be 2 x 60 minutes or 3 x 40 minutes with around 15-20-minute breaks in between.
Most bands will also provide a free DJ service in between sets to keep the music going all night.
What equipment will they bring?
A professional party band will come self-contained with a PA and additional lighting for the performance area if it is needed.
How much space does the band need?
The general rule of thumb for a 3-piece band is a space of 3m x 3m. This will increase by an additional meter for every additional musician. So for example a 4-piece band would need 4m x 3m and so on. This space is required for PA equipment, drums, amps, and any lighting, etc. So always check that the venue is big enough before booking the size of the band and 13 amp sockets are available to plug in all their equipment.
Will they learn a special song?
Yes, if you want to have your special song for say your first dance then a professional party band will always be happy to learn this for you.
What do you need from me?
A supply of soft drinks, coffee or tea, and a buffet-style meal would be very much appreciated especially if it is for a wedding as it will likely be a long day if they are covering the drinks reception and evening’s entertainment.
Check that they can park as close to the venue as possible to help in unloading their equipment.
If you are holding an event outdoors your band will need some cover like a gazebo and make sure there is an electrical supply.
Always check if the venue has a sound limiter in place and what it is set to.
How do I hire a party band?
Hiring a band is simple through Music8, a deposit will be required to secure your band’s booking, and then a contract will be drawn up for you and the band. The final payment of the outstanding balance will be required the week of the event.
What happens if a band member is ill?
A professional band will have deps to cover any band member that is unable to make the day of the event through illness or for any over reason.
